In a recent interview on Arise TV, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain Daboikiabo Warmate offered a robust defense of Umar Damagun's position as the party's national chairman, countering criticisms about the legitimacy of his appointment.

Warmate addressed the ongoing controversy surrounding Damagun's role, stating, "They are going from one media house to say Damagun should reverse back to his position, that he wasn't elected as the national chairman." This comment highlights the public debate over Damagun's ascension to the chairmanship.

To support his argument, Warmate drew a parallel with former President Goodluck Jonathan's rise to power, asking rhetorically, "Was Jonathan elected as a president when he took over from vice president to president? Was he elected as a president?" This comparison suggests that Damagun's appointment follows a similar constitutional principle.

Warmate further emphasized the constitutional basis for Damagun's position, asserting, "It is a clear constitutional matter. Immediately there is a vacuum there, you assume that office." This statement underscores Warmate's view that Damagun's appointment is in line with established constitutional procedures.

Newly appointed magistrate Musa Semwogerere has been arrested for impersonating as a woman to take an exam for his girlfriend at the Uganda Legal Development Center (LDC) Lira.   According to local media, he was promoted to grade one  Magistrate by the  Judicial service Commission weeks ago.   Semwogerere, fondly  referred to as Mukisa Anthony, was caught on Friday, July 28, 2023 while taking an exam for his girlfriend, Irene Mutonyi.   The accused is charged with two counts of forgery and remains in jail until August .  A picture of him dressed as a woman with pigtails went viral on social media.
