Nigeria awaits as PBAT moves to redeem image through cabinet reshuffle

appointments were too
slow, and when they came, it was a largely political cabinet, not the
technocratic leadership investors were hoping for,” Moghalu noted.

Moghalu went further, recommending the establishment of a full-time
Advisory Council to provide guidance on handling the country’s
socio-political sphere anchored on principles that promote good
governance. “The real solution to our crisis lies in fixing the
incompetencies and habits that got us here. If we address these, we
won’t continue lurching from crisis to crisis,” he said.

Meanwhile, a civil society group, Action for Change in Nigeria, (ACN)
with headquarters in Abuja added their voice to the growing demands
for change within the federal cabinet.

coordinated through a performance review process led by Hajia Hadiza
Bala Usman which has also become an issue of controversy as to why
government will rely on its appointees to assess other appointees.

A cross section of observers were of the opinion that an independent
team of assessors should be in a better position to advice government
on the competencies of its appointees.

Most of President Tinubu’s cabinet members have been media shy, not
because they lack the guts to address the press but because they have
nothing to showcase after nearly a year and a half in office.

Our findings revealed that the call for a reshuffle is rooted in a
clear message, Nigeria needs technocrats—leaders who possess not only
vision but the technical know-how to navigate the complexities of
governance and economic reform.

Only with a team that understands both the challenges and the
opportunities can President Tinubu’s vision for Nigeria’s future be
realized.

Bola Ahmed Tinubu has much to do in order to restore his image and
meet the high expectations placed upon him. Nigerians are looking up
to him with hope, and while his capacity to deliver is widely
recognized, he must now demonstrate boldness in making the tough
decisions that will steer the country in the right direction. Tinubu
is known for creating systems rather than being absorbed by them, and
it is this decisive leadership that the nation needs at this critical
time.

As rumors circulate about his recent trip to London for a two-week
consultation to reshuffle his cabinet, it’s important to stress that
time should not be the main constraint. While two weeks may seem
short, the President should take as much time as necessary to conduct
thorough consultations, both widely and in-depth, to ensure that only
the most capable individuals continue to work with him or join his
cabinet. This reshuffle presents his last real opportunity to prove to
Nigerians that he possesses the vision, competence, and resolve
required to lead the nation forward.
